Nicholas Clausen Interview

First off, tell us a little bit about you...
Tell us about your books/What genre do you consider your books? - I have two novels out, both are from The Dragon Riders of Arvain series which is a YA Fantasy series.

When did you start writing?
I started writing in 2008, when I was 19 years old.

Why do you write?
Well I started writing because I wanted to entertain and provide a world for readers to get lost in and, most importantly, enjoy.

What would be your choice for a superpower?
The ability to see peoples needs, true needs.

Who is your favorite author?
That's a loaded question that I think changes frequently but right now Christopher Paolini would take that title.

What are you reading now?
Rick Riordan's Magnus Chase series and Robert Jordan's Wheel of Timer series.

Who is your favorite character to write?
Draek, the silver dragon. This guy does what he wants and fears nothing.

Do you have a writing process?
I try to get a page done a day. I write outlines but I am not afraid to break free of them and let the story tell itself.

What advice would you give to an aspiring author?
One page at a time, don’t get lost trying to figure out the ending of the book before you finish the first chapter. Take your time and don't be afraid to rewrite and revise, paintings are finished in one stroke.

What inspired you to pursue writing?
I read a story that I loved but when it came time for the ending it left me feeling cheated. I got so mad at it that I failed to see just how emotional I was getting over words on pages. I hated the ending but I loved feeling so strongly about it and I wanted to cause people to feel strongly about my works.

What are your favorite TV shows/Movies to watch in between writing?
Game of Thrones, the greatest show.

What are your current projects?
Book Three in The Dragon Riders of Arvain series, can't give you the title yet.
Do you have anything specific that you want to say to readers? Without you there wouldn't be writers, thank you for all that you do and for taking the time to read our stories.
